Q. What is the difference between a swarming termite and a flying ant?

A. Swarming Termites are winged reproductive termites. Black to brown in color with four wings of equal size, a broad waist and straight antennae. Flies from colony to mate and start new infestations, they are usually only seen in the springs.

Flying Ants are winged reproducers similar to a termite a swarmer identified by two sets of different sized wings, a pinched waist and elbow-shaped antennae.

Q. Do I have to be at home when you do my annual inspection?

A. No, unless you have a locked gate. We will check underneath and around for signs of termites, and do a perimeter spray for general pests, which is why we put crickets or spiders as target pests on the service ticket. It is against State Law to spray termicide every year unless there are active signs of termites.
